Samsung galaxy S20 review before making a Purchase

Samsung galaxy S 20 review

The Samsung galaxy S 20 is a beautiful device, but it’s not the most cutting edge of Samsung is S 20 line up. The winner goes to the Galaxy S 20 ultra. Even though the S 20 is not the greatest it’s still a very powerful phone with funny economic and attractive design. There is an introduction of new features like:

  • 5G
  • 120Hz Display
  • Upgraded rear Camera
  • Strong Camera Performance
  • Lots of power

The Samsung galaxy S20 is a massive upgrade most especially for people who are hungry for the latest technology, besides it’s cheaper than the Galaxy S20 plus.

Samsung galaxy S20 review: Features:

  • It comes with a 6.2-inch screen with a fast 120Hz refresh rate
  • 5G download speeds where available
  • High specs camera on both sides of the phone
  • Big battery to boot.

If you’re keen about getting a new tech Samsung has to offer, then this is the right phone for you, most especially if you don’t want a large phone and you don’t want a large hole in your wallet. If you’re interested in more storage or a 108MP camera you could go for the ultra-model with a stretch to the price tag. Users who are only interested in the day to day use should get the utmost satisfaction out of the S20.

There’s a new powerful chipset under the hood, either a QUALCOMM snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 it’s all depends on where you live as well as either 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. This depends on whether you buy the 4G or 5G phone. The camera is one of the main highlights with lots of specs at the rear array.

There are great improvements in all three cameras which includes increased pixel sizes to improve night time photography through a more light allowance. The telephoto lens is much better compared to the one on the galaxy S 10. It allows you to shoot high quality 3x optical zoom shots which can stretch all the way to a 30x digital zoom. The Galaxy S 20 ultra has a better camera spec, but most users will be okay with the shooter on this phone.

The 4,000mAh battery is another highlight of this phone, much bigger compared to the cell in the S10. The battery has a long great life span with typical use, wouldn’t last longer than one day normal use, but other smartphones are similar.

One of the downsides about this phone is, it squeezes out the headphone jack. This is the same story with the S 20 plus and S 20 ultra and this is the first time Samsung has dropped this feature from its S range. There are some top end features missing in the Samsung S20 which are included in the Samsung S20 ultra. This is affordable, easy to hold and will fit easily into the pocket of your jacket. It might not be a most impressive device in 2020, it’s still a powerful smartphone that has a lot to offer.

Samsung galaxy S20 review: Design and display

  • The Samsung S 20 is a 6.2-inch display
  • It offers exactly 0.1-inch more screen real estate than 2019’s 6.1-inch S10
  • The overall size of the phone won’t change dramatically
  • Max resolution is the same as the other S models at WQHD + (3040 X 1440)
  • Default resolution of full HD+ (2220 X 1080)
  • Resolution is sharp enough for most tasks and saves battery
  • Higher resolutions can be changed from the settings

The maximum 120Hz refresh rate display is a big upgrade, this is as twice the rate at which display refreshes on most phones including previous Samsung devices. This means a unique experience of smother scrolling and animations. This is quite useful when you’re mobile gaming because it offers more immersive experience and could even give you an edge over your opponent. Every day task, such as scrolling through social media post also offers a smooth scrolling experience.

The new 120 refresh rate isn’t WQHD + compatible which means you have to decide if you want higher resolution display or the faster loading picture. The touch sensitivity was increased from 120Hz to 240Hz which makes games more responsive with sensing finger brushes on the screen at a much higher rate than previously. You won’t notice this when using the phone, but most who play games will notice the difference.

Some users might find the increase in the size screen a turn off because of the demand for smaller one hand friendly phones. There are both good news and bad news, the good news is while the S20 is taller than S10, it’s also narrower with a 20:9 aspect ratio, and the screen is just marginally bigger. The bad news is no Galaxy S10E sequel, this is the smallest and cheapest of the S20 range to offer those with similar hands a 5.8-inch display size.

The S20 is as small as the Samsung 2020 S phones get although the small front facing camera punch hole is great and the return of HDR10+ to the display for punchier and more detailed images when gaming and watching movies is lovely, it would have been better with a bit of screen size diversity. This phone is the first in the S range not to have a 3.5mm headphone jack in other words you will have to use an adapter which is not included with your current 3.5mm wired headphones. Alternatively, you could get a pair with a USB-C connection.

This has more or less become popular with lots of flagship phones, while some might find it disappointing, it’s not much of a big deal because wireless headphones and earbuds are becoming more popular and be hopeful that very soon Samsung will start producing their own Galaxy buds and Galaxy buds plus. The rear is made of glass and it feels more premium than ever, the raised camera bump might be a bit odd, but this is necessary in order to include all the camera technology. If you place the phone on a flat surface, don’t be surprised if the phone starts rocking from side to side.

Samsung galaxy S20 review: Camera

There are major improvements to the camera setup compared to the one installed in the Galaxy S10. The main camera is:

  • 12MP, has a f/1.8 aperture
  • Camera changes to suit lighting conditions
  • Lots of improvements for low light shots
  • Increase to the size of individual pixels
  • A large sensor
  • Able to capture more details
  • A new 64MP telephoto camera
  • Higher megapixel count
  • 30x digital zoom
  • Ultimate zoom capability
  • Game changing 100x zoom
  • Works brilliantly
  • Impressive results with automatic mode
  • 8K video recording
  • Anti-roll correction of up to 60 degrees
  • 20x video zoom

Samsung galaxy S20 reviewIf you want to shoot in 8K just hit the camera button while you are recording to take a 33MP still image. This is extremely useful most especially to get a high-quality shot while also filming with the video. Samsung easy to use camera app is still best among smartphones because of the new features, you’re able to swipe anywhere on the screen to flip between the front and back cameras. You can make a hand gesture to trigger the selfie camera timer and double press the physical lock button to blindly launch the camera app.

There’s a new single take mode, which cycles through all three rear cameras over the course of 10 seconds to help capture various videos and photos. You will end up with:

  • Photos
  • Ultra-wide
  • Portraits
  • Hyper lapse video
  • Regular video
  • And more

5G

This is one of the phones with 5G compatibility, only 1 percent of the smartphones shipped in 2019 were only 5G compatible. This phone is 5G by default, although there are also some 4G version, it’s up to the buyer to decide. 5G download is about:

  • 200Mbps on average
  • 6X greater than 4G speeds in some parts of the world.

5G availability depends on your area and your provider, there’s an important distinction between 5G capabilities of the Galaxy S20 on one hand and the S20 plus and ultra on the other. All three are supported by the low to mid band sub – 6 technology, only the plus and ultra-have mm wave antennas which pulls down even faster speed.

Battery Life

  • Equipped with 4,000mAh power pack
  • An increase of 3,4000mAh compared to S10
  • Solid battery life
  • Charges faster
  • Charges from 0 to 100 percent under an hour
  • 15W wireless charging on offer

In conclusion

An amazing device most especially with the revolutionary 8K video snap which changes how you capture not just video but photography. You can add Samsung knox security, a powerful battery, a strong processor and a massive storage. It’s a phone that describes the mobile world in a unique way.

This cutting edge device provides the benefit of effortless high performance and comfort, thanks to an outstanding innovation. The secret behind this stunning device is the amazing design which provides much functionality with effortless power. The device offers an amazing feeling of comfort and control

The Lovely Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is a well-designed tablet and it is one of the best non-premium tablets ever produced by Samsung. The tablet is great because of the inclusion of the stylus S pen and the software customization features. The tablet is fairly robust with a good-looking design that offers the users ultimate satisfaction. Every new android Tablet has been classified as a threat to the IPAD, this tablet seems as an attempt to destroy the IPAD’S stronghold in the digital market.

This seems to be gradually being achieved through the affordable price, the amazing design and the various features. It could be compared to the Samsung Galaxy S6 but doesn’t have much in common with the S6 which still makes it stand alone.  It’s more like an accomplished member of the Galaxy Tab A line of affordable tablets.

The key features are

  • The tablet comes with a stylus pen
  • The pen is good for taking notes, annotations and doodling
  • You don’t have to pay extra for the stylus compared to the Apple pencil
  • It feels and looks good
  • The tablet is durable
  • The bezels are smaller compared to the A tab
  • The rear is solid and will survive hard knocks
  • It comes with a 3.5 MM headphone Jack
  • The display is excellent
  • It’s much better for viewing content compared to some other tablets
  • The Samsung Galaxy S6 tab Lite might not be top notch, but still has a lot to offer
  • Available in WI-FI or LTE, 64GB or 128GB
  • Availability is greatly depending on region

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite: Design

  • The design is robust
  • It has a USB-C and 3.5 headphone jack
  • The Stylus pen has no compartment
  • Both front and rear glass is made of metal frame
  • The material is quite strong and will survive being dropped a few times
  • The device is a little bit heavy because of the choice of material
  • It weighs about 46 MG this is twice as heavy as most smartphones
  • The dimension is 244.5 x 154.3 x7mm
  • A fairly average size given the screen diameter
  • It will fit into the pocket of an extra-large jacket
  • The bezels which surround the screen is pretty slim
  • The device has a good-screen and won’t feel overly large in the hand
  • The main camera is found at the back of the cloud at the top left-hand corner
  • The 3.5mm headphone jacket is at the top of the device
  • The power button and volume control are at the right edge of the device
  • The USB C pot he’s at the bottom edge

This tablet comes in different is colours

  • Oxford Grey
  • Angola Blue
  • Chiffon Rose

By awaited that not all different: Carlos at a available in every region.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite: Display

  • 4-inch LCD screen
  • 2000 x 1200 resolution 5:3 aspect ratio
  • Good for watching movies and TV shows

The screen quality is great for LCD, nice and bright. It’s easy to view most especially when you are outside. The colour, sometimes might look a bit washed out compared to display on other devices. If playing games or watching movies, don’t be surprised if the resolution is noticeable. This mostly depends on the streaming service that you watch content on or it could be your subscription package.

In addition, the 5:3 ration aspect is a step off 16:9, this is the aspect which most TV shows and streaming movies broadcast through in other words, while watching a content there will be no prominent black bars at the top nor bottom of the screen. These are common in iPad because they tend to have 4:3 display

The LCD display is not top notch when the screen is black, quite bright because of beecraigs the shade by displaying all the colours at once compared to LED panels which simply turns off the LED to get black. To explain this in lay terms it means that if your phone is being used in a dark mode display it might not be okay for your eyes. This is one of the major problems the S6 has regarding all LCD devices.

You will notice that this tablet is quite responsive if you swipe your screen with the S pen on your finger compared to other tablets.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite: Specs Performance and Camera

There’s a 5MP at the front which is ideal for making frequent video calls or for taking selfie. It’s not the best but still good, you’ll be amazed at the different modes available for selfie. You can edit a background picture with the life focus mode.

  • A mid-range exynos 9611 chipset with 4GB RAM
  • 8MP rear camera

This tablet runs on the exynos 9611 chipset also made by Samsung. This has been in numbers of mid-range and affordable phones like Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A50s which paired with 4GB RAM. The exynos 9611 is not a powerful chipset but good as long as your tasks are not demanding. Lower end and well optimised games run smoothly on this device. Games that are demanding could crash the device.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite: Software

It runs the Android 10 with Samsung’s one UI laid over the top. All downloaded apps in one UI are sent into an app drawer instead of having them on the main page. This makes it easier to customise your home page by selecting the apps you want on the home page. There are also useful range of widgets that you can also put on the home page such as:

  • Weather
  • Spotify controls
  • Email previews

Google has struggle over the years to create a reliable tablet operating system even though one UI features works very well on tablets. Android is still trying to catch up with the IPAD OS. The swipe down control menu is better in the IPAD OS.

There are some nice S pen tricks that are fun to use, they are accessible from the home screen with a small icon that pops up to the side when the tab detects that the pen is in use. These includes:

  • Create note – this brings up a small window which you can scribble on
  • Screen write – you can tale a screenshot and annotate
  • Creating documents
  • Creating shipping lists
  • Creating to do lists

The S pen feature will help with productivity although the lack of palm detection could be an issue. Lack of keyboard peripheral at the time of writing means writing other than quick notes require the use of the on-screen keyboard. This is not as natural compared to a physical keyboard, you could opt for a third-party Bluetooth alternative.

Battery Life

  • 7,040mAh battery
  • 15W fast charging

Battery life is quite impressive, will last throughout the day on a typical use which are:

  • Watching YouTube video for about an hour
  • Playing games
  • Social media interactions
  • Demanding tasks
  • Long video calls
  • And more

In conclusion

Your creativity will be lifted to new heights with the Galaxy Tab S6, the tablet that does it all for you and goes beyond the boundaries with the lovely S pen integration to work and play. You can easily convert challenges to opportunities and maximise your potential with a tablet that prepares you for anything and everything.

This cutting edge device provides the benefit of effortless high performance and comfort, thanks to an outstanding innovation. Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Lite Review

This tablet is one of the tablets that is competing with the IPAD models. It has been rated as one of the best android tablets currently in the market. The year 2020 hasn’t been the most exciting in the market, but the Samsung Galaxy tab S7 looks like an amazing alternative to the iPad. This ranges from the strong design of the amazing display. If you are looking for one of the best tablets in 2020, the first thing that would probably come to your mind will be the IPAD models, but you’ll be glad to know that this tablet is worth considering not only because it’s solid but also comes at an affordable price.

It was designed to offer a unique experience to compete with the apple’s ever so successful iPad range, the Samsung galaxy tab S7 was tested alongside the new Samsung galaxy note 20 and galaxy note 20 plus and other smartphones. The conclusion is this tablet comes with its own beauty that will offer the users the satisfaction they are looking for, it’s vital to establish that this is the tablet for you before making a purchase. This article is written to help you to make the right decision.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Lite Review: Features

  • The Samsung galaxy tab S7 was introduced to the technology world on the 5th of August 2020 alongside the Samsung Galaxy S7 plus, The Galaxy notes 20 phones and the Galaxy watch.
  • Since its release date, it’s been on sale in the UK, USA and Australia.
  • The base model of the tablet is 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage
  • You can buy the Wi-Fi only variant of the tablet in the UK, but in the US, you already have a choice of 5G ready

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Lite Review: Design and display

  • The galaxy tab S7 looks similar to the previous Samsung tablet, but it comes with a refined design.
  • There are lots of improvement to the display technology, which has been upgraded to the latest edition.
  • The display is an 11-inch QHD display, which equates to 274 pixels per inch.
  • To be honest, this is not the best tablet display out there in terms of resolution, but still looks fantastic while watching the videos.
  • The introduction of 120Hz a fresh rate is one of the biggest updates for this model, this means the on-screen image refreshes more frequently compared to devices that comes with lower rates.
  • The display is large enough for many users, but if you fancy a bigger option you may want to go for the tab S7 plus.
  • The tablet comes with hefty pencils around the edges of the display, which feels appropriate for tablet and was not noticeable when using the device.
  • The edges of this tablet are more squared comparing to the previous iterations.
  • It sits comfortably in the hands and feels more or less like an IPAD pro
  • The power key is located at the left-hand edge with a volume rocker next to it and speaker grills located at the top
  • There’s a USB-C at the bottom edge as well
  • The stylus is good for sketching, annotating documents.
  • The stylus sits at the rear of the device at the bottom edge.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Lite Review: S pen and book cover keyboard

The S pen has gone through a transformation and it’s now more responsive and accurate. An artist will feel an instant feedback as they drag it across the touch screen panel. The favourite feature that users would like to know is the S Pen reduces latency from 42 Ms to 9 Ms. The updated stylus is a bit thicker, which makes you more comfortable to hold, although people with a chubby finger might find it too thin.

The stylus displays a brilliant performance by keeping up with rapid taps and fast swipes although no comparison to others but still very good. Samsung is great for the inclusion of the S pen with the tablet at no additional cost. This puts them in a better light compared to Apple whereby you have to buy the Apple pencil separately.  Some users also like the way the Pen charges when placed on a magnetic strip at the back of the tablet.

If you fancy using the Galaxy Tab S7 as a laptop you can connect it to the optional keyboard attachment. The new book cover keyboard comes with a larger touchpad that supports:

  • Multi touch gestures
  • A delete keys
  • Function keys
  • Shift Keys
  • Full size enters

The trackpad works well and typing on the keyboard with the key is comfortable, but shouldn’t expect a very deep key travel. There is a leatherette folio cover which is separated from the keyboard attachment this protects the back of the tablet. It feels great and has a clever flap at the top under which the stylus is completely encased

Talking about the subject of it is a laptop replacement, DEX will return to the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab 7 Plus after a hiatus on the Tab S6 Lite. In case you’re not familiar with the term DEX, this is a Samsung’s custom desktop interface that gives the Tab a laptop feeling and also offers more multi-tasking options.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Lite Review: Performance and software

QUALCOMM’s snapdragon 865 plus chipset is inside the Galaxy tab which appeared to work well widely with a limited time testing. This tablet this is one of the best chipsets available in the market right now. The performance should be top notch, testing shows that apps opens in one blink, and you will play games easily without any problems.

There is a 6 GB of ram on board this should be right to be more than enough to run top games and more. People living in the US have the choice of either128 GB for 256 GB of storage while those in the UK just get 128 GB. The tablet comes with Android 10 software, this is overlaid with what Samsung describes as the version 2.5 of its one UI. Samsung is not clear about the difference between this and the UI 2 software that was on the Samsung previous product.

This tablet comes with the 5G connectivity which allows you to connect to the next generation of mobile networks around the world. In the UK there is a Wi-Fi only variant of the tablet available and you can also get the 5G – ready version.

Camera and battery life

Are you looking for a tablet with a good camera, perhaps you need something for work or study? Be rest assured that the Samsung galaxy tab S7 is a safe bet. It comes with:

  • A 13MP main shooter at the rear of the tablet.
  • A 5MP ultra-wide and a flash module.
  • An 8MP selfie camera for video calling and more, placed at the right-hand edge of the screen
  • It’s better for video recording in the landscape mode
  • Photos not as good as the ones you get on the smartphones like Galaxy S20
  • Images and shots are still beautiful despite some shortcomings.

This tablet is powered by an 8,000mAh battery. Samsung is yet to reveal a specified battery life figure, but based on experiences with a previous Samsung tablet with the similar battery size it should last up to 8 hours and perhaps even longer. There is also a 45 fast charging technology, but a dedicated charger is needed to take advantage of this feature bear in mind that this does not come with the tablet, so it will be an additional expense.

The Samsung galaxy tab S7 may not be a major upgrade for anyone with a recent android tablet or iPad but all the same it’s a well-designed solid product that could defeat the current best android Galaxy Tab S6 easily. Its main competitor is the slightly larger Galaxy Tab S7 plus but if you’re comfortable with a small tablet with a small display, this is an impressive option at an affordable price.

In Conclusion

This review is based on the research conducted by the writer, in a nutshell, it’s a good tablet to behold and ideal for an average user. Another thing that gives it an upper hand is the affordable price. It will offer you an immersive tablet experience that will revolutionise the way you work and play.

This cutting edge device provides the benefit of effortless high performance and comfort, thanks to an outstanding innovation. Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Review

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Review

My Opinion

This Samsung Galaxy S10 plus is an innovation in the sense that it doesn’t follow the sameness of the last few models of Samsung handsets. The screen, a 6.4-inch size is massive it displaces the front camera. The triple rear lens camera was designed to take ultra-wide photos, even though they are hidden because the fingerprint sensor is a hidden feature. The power to share wireless comes with lots of beautiful features

Benefits

  • Great for screen to body ratio
  • In screen fingerprint sensor
  • Wireless power share perk
  • A long battery’s life span
  • Bigger and better version compared to other models

This phone provides a new definition of what the word phablet is all about in 2019. The Samsung next generation of infinity – O display and the 6.4 – inch edge to edge screen plus the punch hole design for the front cameras makes this device outstanding.

The screen to body ration is 93.1 %, the pixel stretches from the small top speaker to the thin bottom chin and spill over the curved edges to the left and right. The glass is loaded underneath with and ultra-sonic fingerprint sensor at the front, and at the back is a 4,100mAh battery plus the new wireless power share feature. This helps to top up other wireless charging devices.

Located at the smooth looking back, of the device is the triple lens camera that includes a small camera bump. You’re able to take normal shot and an ultra-wide shot, this capture a wider image without the support of a backup.

The new infinity – O display is behind the standout screen size; the South Korean Company did not use a notch cut out across the latest devices, but opted for a laser cut hole at the top right-hand corner. The two-front facing camera with the second RGB camera is better for portrait selfie compared to the single lens front facing camera of Samsung S10 AND S10 E. The punch hole on the S10 plus takes up a little more space compared to other models.

The front two cameras aligns with the notification bar therefore not in the way when it comes to usage such as:

  • Web browsing
  • Social media
  • Emails
  • Etc

Most Samsung phone users do agree that the S10 plus is not only bigger than the S10 but better as well. Another plus to this phone is the fact that it gives a new definition to the term phablet in 2019 due to the 6.4 edge to edge screen. There’ also been debates about this phone being much better than the iPhone counterpart.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Review – Display

  • The screen size is 1440 x 3040 QHD plus resolution
  • Resolution is stretched over the tall 19.9 aspect ratio
  • The resolution provides a pin – sharp 526 ppi pixel density
  • Resolution is a big highly detailed display
  • The screen resolution by default is set to full HD + (2280 X 1080)
  • The resolution offers a clear and detailed images and text
  • The resolution will adapt automatically once a graphically intensive game or 4K movie is loaded.
  • Brightness are enhanced for better outdoor visibility

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Review – Design

Looking at the phone from a distance one could be deceived that it’s theSamsung Galaxy S10 Spec Review same design as S10 however there are major improvements to this phone. The Aluminium frame is thinner compared to the S9 plus. The front and the back cover with Gorilla glass while the 512GB and 1TB versions were supported by ceramic in either black or white.

The other glass comes in prism white, black and green which comes with a 128GB storage. Research shows that more people are inclined to buy this version. The back of the phone is almost flush combined with a triple set of cameras with a subtle bump.

Instead of being at the right top corner, which is popular with a lot of smartphones, the camera’s centralised position is at the rear of the phone. It sits nicely on the surface with a polished appearance.

You can perform an invisible trick with the fingerprint sensor something you might want to show off. Samsung’s fingerprint sensor returns to the original flagship after a two-year hiatus. The sensor is embedded under the glass display.

The fingerprint 3D scan does allow more unlock and more secured compare to the optimal scanners of Huawei 20 and one plus 6T. The sensor keeps working even if your finger or the screen is either cold or wet because of the ultrasound technology. The downside is the fingerprint scanner is a bit slow to recognise your print at optical readers outside of the display.

You’ll have to apply more pressure on the fingerprint scanner compare to an optical one with your finger in the right position or else it won’t work. You’ll find a fingerprint guide on the screen pointing to where your digits should be.

You have the option of scanning and face recognition; the face recognition is quicker, but the downside, you must maintain a focus on your phone and it’s less secured.

The Phone Measure:

  • 6 X 74.1 X 7.8mm
  • Almost the same dimension with S9 plus
  • A bit shorter compared to other models
  • Wider compared to other models
  • Thinner and lighter
  • Feels better while holding
  • 3% screen to body ratio

A case is needed for the phone because the glass and metal finish offer a little grip, two hands are needed frequently to secure the phone especially when typing. I guess the more you get used to the phone the better and might be able to operate with one hand over time.

The power/lock key on the right side is a little high up which makes it a bit difficult to hit with ease and sometimes the phone might be shimmy in the hand to reach. On the left side the volume rocker sits above a dedicated key smart assistant – Bixby. A press launches the assistance straight away, giving you quick access to voice commands and the Bixby screen. The 3.5mm headphone jack sits at the bottom of the phone alongside the USB – port.

Camera

  • A robust triple lens rear camera
  • The rear camera comprises a 12MP regular lens
  • A 12MP optically zoomed telephoto lens
  • A new 16MP ultra-wide lens

12.3MP Main Camera

  • The dual aperture allows you to capture vibrant looking photos
  • Produces good photos in low lighting conditions
  • Inconsistent picture quality
  • Lacks exposure for night vision mode
  • Ranks among the best iPhone in 2019
  • Takes photo with bright, punchy colours
  • Low light compatibilities are good
  • Tends to de noise night-time images

16MP Ultra -wide Camera

  • Captures photos with a 123 – degree field of view
  • Great for cramming more into the frame
  • Wide angle produces a fisheye effect, thereby distorting peoples and objects at the edges of the shot.
  • Stunning lens, good for sweeping landscape and group shots
  • Triple lens rear camera, great for normal telephoto
  • Capture more with the latter lens
  • Ranks below Huawei P30 Pro
  • Offers fun to use and versatile camera suite

The punch hole comes with an extra-large hole in the display because Samsung fixed two cameras to better portraits selfie. This gives the phone an edge over Galaxy S10 and S10E front cameras and it’s not a distraction.

Full HD is the resolution by default, but can be cranked to QHD+ and its pin sharp with HDR10+ for superior contrast and colour. This is an important perk for movie lovers who loves watching movies on their phones.

A drawback is the chipping away bezels, it leads to encroaching palms, making false touches on the sensitive screen, especially when you’re typing. This often flips the on-screen keyboard between letters and numbers to output a bunch of gobbledygook embarrassing messages.

The new look for the Samsung phones in 2019 is the infinity – O display, which is enough for the change that people has been yearning for its looks:

  • Fantastic
  • Bright colours

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Review – The reproduction offers best:

  • Images
  • Icons
  • Apps
  • Games
  • Videos

The easy to navigate apps are fully loaded gives it an edge over the Google’s more bare bones camera app. There are lovely features such as being able to flip between the main and the front cameras by swapping on the screen.  You can also take a selfie with gesture because of its simplicity. All you need to do id open your arm, form a fist and the countdown timer will start rolling.

The new scene optimize is the extra category which enables the AI to tell the difference between a cat and a dog. Another addition is for example to fine tune image settings it was discovered that it’s smart enough to recognise the main subject in a busy scene and brightens things up as little as appropriate.

There’s also the shot suggestion hints that fixes photos by using the phone’s neural processing unit. (NPU). It’s real time tips levels the shots and frame subjects which is helpful with an on screen reticle to centre group shots properly.

In Conclusion

Samsung is one of the manufacturers still producing the standard headphone jack and trying to sell its wireless buds. They’ve probably done their research and found out that their customer prefers both based on preferences. The S10 plus is a hallmark feature in rival handset plus a dose of first to launch aspects such as WI-FI 6 and HDR10+ screen. It’s one of the best complete packages among the big expensive smartphones.

This cutting edge device provides the benefit of effortless high performance and comfort, thanks to an outstanding innovation. The secret behind this stunning device is the amazing design which provides much functionality with effortless power. The device offers an amazing feeling of comfort and control.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Spec Review

Samsung Galaxy S10 Spec Review

The Galaxy S10 is one of the best in the S series. It’s labelled as the fitting 10Th Anniversary phone from Samsung. It’s described as a novel looking, infinity on screen, it’s very large it displaces the front camera plus a triple lens camera for taking ultra-wide photos. The screen fingerprint also offers a great service whilst the wireless power share will serve you and your friends as well. There are lots of changes regarding improvements, but you’re getting good returns on your investment.

A powerful camera is its own right, the reasons being it has:

  • A big screen despite the size
  • The performance is good
  • A triple camera

The cheaper and portable Galaxy S10 was designed with a beautiful 6.1 screen into a more manageable size with a lot to achieve. To put it in another way, it is a phone with a large screen in a compact body for people who are not too keen about massive flagship smartphones

This phone is the ideal phone if judging by size, the price, and the performance. A beautiful screen in a tiny body. It measures:

  • 4mm wide
  • 9 mm tall
  • Stunning 6.1 in QHD + AMOLED screen
  • About the same size as iPhone XS
  • The lightest top end smartphone in the market

The size and the weight make it one of the easiest phones to handle and fits into the pocket with no discomfort. The important sensors are neatly tucked behind the vibrant and the super AMOLED display. There’s a new ultra-sonic fingerprint sensor, there’s no longer a fingerprint pad on the back or any visible part of the phone. The sensor is now invisible at the front where most users feel it’s the right place. The punch hole display became a trend in the S10 after the idea was revealed in honour view 20. The in-screen fingerprint sensor was also introduced after the appearance in the one plus 6T, Huawei Mate 20 pro and some of the vivo phones.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Spec Review – Design

The main aim of the design is to achieve the impressive 93.1% screen to body ratio at the front of the phone. To be candid, it’s a little bit better compared to a traditional notch. A quick opinion about selfie camera, the only one that offers a cleaner looking alternative on a very similar curved display is the one plus 7 pro. You won’t be bothered about the Samsung punch hole after using it for a couple of hours. There are arrays of lenses that takes:

  • Normal photos
  • Telephoto
  • New ultra-wide photos

More about the Design Below

  • Both front and back were covered with glass
  • Especially attractive in its pearlescent white
  • Curved at the edges
  • Thin polished metal band
  • Screen cut for camera poke

There is an ultra-sonic fingerprint scanner for unlocking the phone with the thumb on the screen. The most interesting aspect is the existence of a headphone socket at the bottom – this is quite rare for a top end smartphone

Water resistance is IP68 and depths of up to 1.5 metres in immersed in water for about 30 minutes. You’ll rinse your phone afterwards and seems like nothing happen even after dropping it in the toilet.

You have a lesser amount of grip due to the design of the glass and metal body. You must be careful most especially if you’re accident prone therefore it might be good to get a protective case. You might go for a slim silicon to ensure the phone is not bulky in your hand.

The QUALCOMM backed tech is meant to be better and more secured which is the reason is being used by Samsung for a 3D scan of your print. One of the good things about this is, it will work with your fingers if it’s wet or cold, these are major issues with optical scanners.

The QUALCOMM works very well, but not as effective as an optical fingerprint scanner, not effective does mean you have to wait for a long time to get a response just a few seconds to read, register and unlock the phone but lacks the zip of scanner because it’s not embedded in the display.

The standard headphone jack is still being included in the Samsung phone even 2019 despite introducing wireless Galaxy buds and reducing the thickness of the Galaxy S10.

  • Blur the background image in portrait
  • Performs colour isolation
  • Post straight to Instagram with a dedicated mode
  • Excellent video capture
  • Single selfie camera poking through the screen

On the video side, there was an upgrade to the software to include video stabilisation. This is to ensure that all ultra-video is as smooth as an active camera. There’s also the HDR10+ Video recording which is impressive because S9 did not offer HDR recording at all. It pulls in a wider amount of contrast via the HEVC (smaller files) codec turns off when the Samsung’s lab labelled HDR10+ is enabled in the settings. It works well except for large files and few hiccups.

Fingerprint Sensor

  • Mounted towards the bottom of the screen
  • The fingerprint reader is embedded under the screen
  • Ultrasound is used to read ridges through your display
  • Fingerprint scanner is built right into the screen
  • Not as quick as an optical sensor

  • Runs new one UI version of the Android 9 pie
  • One UI is a big upgrade compared to previous software
  • Makes phone with large screen more useable
  • Top half for viewing
  • Bottom part for touch-based interactions
  • Menus, buttons, and other touch interactions are easy to reach with the thumb
  • Gesture navigation is a weak point, less ergonomic
  • Bixby voice assistance is always on standby not as great as Google assistant

Observations

  • The prism white comes with different tints and will work according to the angle of the light.
  • Stereo speakers are amazing
  • Most screen protector is compatible with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, although a compatible one also comes with the package.
  • Compared to last year’s model the haptic vibrations were sharper, but not as good as Apple’s excellent Taptic engine on the iPhone.

More about S10

  • An all-round great handset that keeps thing reasonably to manage
  • Designed with a big beautiful screen that’s great for watching videos at ease even whilst holding the phone in your hand
  • The performance is excellent
  • A great camera combined with a software that has helped to redefine technology in the modern world
  • The ultrasonic finger printer works well
  • Battery life is not great, it’s advisable that the phone is fully charged before a night out.
  • To activate some of the power saving mode to ensure the battery last longer.
  • If you want a smaller phone with a great performance, you can’t go wrong with this magnificent device.
  • Hole punch, notch
  • Dual SIM
  • Micro SD slot
  • Low light performance is good.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Spec Review – In Conclusion

The S10 has managed to remain a very powerful and attractive phone after its successor the Samsung Galaxy S20. I think one of the reasons is this phone was designed with the

  • 5G capabilities
  • Better cameras
  • Faster speed

You might be someone who wants to update your phone perhaps from Samsung Galaxy 9 or on the other hand, you already have Samsung Galaxy s10 but thinking of upgrading before you do ref further. The Samsung Galaxy S10E Review

Samsung Galaxy S10E

SAMSUNG GALAXY S10E REVIEWThe Samsung galaxy s10 comes with the letter e which makes it S10e. The e means essential in other words, it’s loaded with all the features used to design both the S10 and S10 plus.

Some of these Features are:

  • 8-inch screen
  • Same two primary cameras
  • All day battery life
  • On screen fingerprint sensor
  • Flagship quality is great for the price
  • Smaller form factor
  • An aluminium frame
  • A clean back with rounded corners and edges

Samsung galaxy S10E can be classified as being in the same league with Apple’s iPhone and Google’s pixel smartphones. Apple decided to expand its flagship with a more affordable model and it’s no surprising that Samsung decided to follow suit. Even though the two companies are in heavy competition the S10 E is still a phone in its own class.

More Features:

  • About 5.8-inch display
  • Measures 142.2 x 69.9 x 7.9mm
  • Great for those who dislike bigger phones
  • The lightest among the three Samsung phones in the same category
  • The 5.8-inch 19.9 screen is sharp
  • Full HD+ (2280 x 1080) resolution

The Gorilla glass 5 compares at the front of the display to the S10 and S10 plus that has theirs at the back. Another thing is it lacks the on-screen fingerprint sensor.

The Colour Options:

  • Flamingo Pink
  • Prism Blue
  • Prism Black
  • Prism White
  • Canary Yellow
  • Green

Samsung Galaxy S10E – The Camera

There are two rear cameras, the same as the S9 dual aperture tech, in other words it’s 77 degrees field of view 12MP main camera and switches between f/1.5 for poor lighting conditions and f/2,4 for brighter scenes.

The extra lens is a 16mp f/2.2 super wide 123 – degree FOV camera. This is very useful for the zoom feature, it is a bonus. The software is impressive, it switches between lenses as you zoom in and out seamlessly. These lenses are the same across the S10 line in other word if you buy an S10e which is more expensive than another s10e model, you will still get the same lenses.

The camera delivers good quality photos even in poor lighting conditions. It’ll blur the background if necessary and you can alter the background blur intensity even after taking a shot. Samsung also includes:

  • Blur filters
  • Artistic
  • Spin
  • Zoom
  • Colour point – this makes the background black and white.

One of the camera features is the shot suggestions that help to frame up the shots. The shutter activates when you hover the reticule, although this is not always accurate. A close-up object with enough lighting will reveal excellent details.

You can test the blur effect of the main camera without switching to the portrait mode, this will produce the desired effect. You will get strong details in the foreground and the rich bokeh in the background. The background was tapped to get it focused and the bokeh gave the foreground sone nice blur.

It is good at tracking fast moving objects such as bright flames that moves in a wind, they are crisp and not blurry. They were not over exposed nor blurry despite having to capture a dark stone shot. The photo software is a big bonus, it was added for neural processing unit to the Galaxy S10 line, this matches the scene the camera is on to the 30 scene optimize settings.

Samsung Galaxy S10E – Battery

  • It is a 3,1000mAh unit
  • It’s smaller than the S10’s 3,400 ah batteries
  • It will last for a day
  • It is slightly bigger than the S9 battery
  • Using Samsung’s fast wireless charging 2.0 you can charge it wirelessly
  • The phone can also charge wirelessly using its own battery

Specs and Performance

The baseline for the internal storage is 128GB across the S10 line. This is generous because the standardisation is long overdue. It has less RAM compared to other models, still a decent amount of memory. It comes with a micro SD slot in case you decide to upgrade your storage manually. It has all the same sensor with the more expensive models such as:

  • Accelerometer
  • Barometer
  • Gyro sensor
  • And so, on

Except for the heart rate sensor. Which was installed in the Galaxy model since the introduction of Galaxy S5 and its absence seems to be having an effect. It could either be a feature that will no longer be available in other to reduce cost and free up internal space. If this is the case, then users will no longer be able to check their heart rate.

Bixby voice assistance returns with this phone with a dedicated button below the volume on the left side of the phone. Some A1 – powered sub features were introduced to the unpopular voice assistance. The Bixby routine has pre-loaded settings than can be toggled, which will switch around with your settings based on cues. A connection to your car or bluetooth triggers one of the settings. Bixby was trained to learn your usage pattern and suggests new routines.

Early Verdict

Some features seem to be missing for a reason, for example the S10 and S10 plus comes with third cameras. Nevertheless, the phone is still a powerful device built with top specs, with the unique style of a flagship device.

In conclusion

  • This phone beats the iPhone XR in a way, it comes with an AMOLED screen instead on an LCD display.
  • A slightly bigger battery
  • A micro SD slots
  • Double baseline storage and RAM
  • Two rear cameras
  • A fingerprint sensor
  • A headphone jacks

A solid phone that deserves a decent share in the market, it’s been shaped to be one of the best options especially when it comes to the price.

This cutting edge device provides the benefit of effortless high performance and comfort, thanks to an outstanding innovation. The secret behind this stunning device is the amazing design which provides much functionality with effortless power. The device offers an amazing feeling of comfort and control.

Exposing the Stunning Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Review

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Review

Samsung Galaxy S9 PlusIt comes with a beautiful screen and a very good camera; the battery could be better. This beautiful design started with the new super slim design with the S8 at the beginning of 2017. Samsung boast of a:

  • New dual aperture
  • Dual Camera

Taking a closer look at the phone, one can tell the galaxy s9 plus look like its predecessor, the S8:

  • They both have the same glass curve
  • Both cameras at the back has metal side and a lump

S9 plus is 0.4mm shorter, 0.4mm wider, 0.4mm thicker than S8 plus but unless you take the measurement with a ruler, you’ll hardly notice. The iris scanner, front facing camera and various sensors located at the top of the bezels are smaller.

The amazing thing about this device is the frame which is easy to hold despite having a large 6.2inch OLED screen which is stunning, pixel perfect with deep black and rich colour in comparison to Google’s pixel 2XL which is 3.3mm wider. Samsung still manages to crease a space for a headphone socket.

You’ll feel the weight of the phone inside your pocket, a major change to this phone compared to the previous model, is the position of the fingerprint scanner at the back. It’s now placed under the rear camera which makes it much easier to reach.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Review – Specifications

  • Processor – octa -core Samsung exynos 9810 or octa – core qualcomm
  • RAM – 6GB
  • Storage – 128GB plus micro SD slot
  • Operating system – Android 8.0 with Samsung experience
  • Camera – Dual 12MP
  • Screen – 6.2-inch quad HD plus AMOLED (529PPI)
  • Dimension – 158.1 x 73.8 x 8.5mm
  • Connectivity – LTE, WI FI, NFC, wireless charging, Bluetooth, GPS and iris scanner.
  • Weight – 189g

Over the years Samsung has been able to proof that they are in the forefront of the advancement in technology. The Samsung S9 plus is a proof because it will do everything you want and more because if it’s high performance gaming and multiple apps on the screen, one thing that needs some improvements is the battery.

The battery span is not all that bad, will still get you through the day, but if phones like Huawei mate 10 pro will last you for two days and iPhone x will last for 30 hours, the galaxy S9 plus will last for 26 hours most especially since S8 plus will also last for about 30 hours.

To prolong the battery, you can set the screen to FHD+ which add about two hours to the strength of the battery, the problem is the display won’t be as crisp as it should be, if you change setting to normal, you’ll get a clearer display.

Although the battery does perform better with time because Samsung’s device maintenance feature suppresses the apps which are not in use but consuming power in the background.

Samsung’s Version of Android 8 Oreo

The split screen standard found in most smart phones running on Android means you can run two apps side by side on the large 6.2-inch screen. The galaxy S9 plus is one of the first Samsung devices to run the Android Oreo but looking at the bigger picture, nothing much as changed since galaxy S8 plus. Android experience regarding Samsung phones is fairly consistent among models, although the operation is smoother on S9 plus compared to other phones.

New Additions to Samsung S9 Plus Review

  • Home screen will rotate to landscape
  • On program icon, you have Oreo’s new notification system including markers
  • Apps message duplications in other to have two versions of apps.
  • New AR Emoji that uses virtual avatars to look like you, not accurate
  • Generates a series of gifts with virtual self-performing various actions you can send to people like gif.

Biometrics

The fingerprint scanner is one of the best in the market and been placed on the back makes it better compare to previous model. There is a multiple mode to unlock the device such as:

  • Facial recognition
  • An iris scanner
  • A fingerprint scanner
  • Intelligent scan which combines facial recognition and iris scanning into one mode.
  • Facial recognition is not as secured as iPhone x but still good.
  • The fingerprint scanner at the back is great. It’s a great impact to the usability of the device.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Review – Camera

  • The dual camera at the back includes a telephoto mode with two times zoom.
  • A 12-megapixel dual camera at the back
  • The rear camera has one wide angle and one telephoto camera both with optical image stabilisation.
  • A wide-angle camera also varies its aperture, flipping between an f- stop of 1.5 and 2.4

A faster f/1.5 allows more light most especially for poor lighting conditions such as:

  • Low light photography.
  • Extremely shallow depth of field.
  • The f/2.4 is great for shooting in good lighting conditions which can be control automatically or manually.
  • The camera produces well coloured and detailed photos.
  • The low light performance is highly impressive
  • The new super slow motion is up to 960 frames per second, this is the four times speed of regular 240fps slow motion.
  • The slow motion can be manually triggered in the slow-motion mode severally while recording is in motion.
  • The app comes with a motion detection option, this helps you to define an area in which the movement will trigger the super slow-motion capture.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Review – Observation

  • A hybrid slim version is made for dual sim or one sim and one micro SD
  • It’s water resistant to IP68 standards (1.5m of water for 30 minutes)
  • Dolby Atmos sound has been greatly enhanced which adds more pop and space to the audio, even with Bluetooth phones.
  • Bottom speakers and earpiece serves as a stereo
  • You can get rid of the ugly icon in the background
  • There is not much improvement to the Samsung personal assistance, this can be disabled on the home screen.

In conclusion

The awkward fingerprint sensor that was a problem Samsung Galaxy 8 has been improved in this phone. The battery life is not great, but will still get you through the day. The camera is brilliant, and the finishing is great. If you are keen about a wider screen, it’s one of the best choices in the market.

This cutting edge device provides the benefit of effortless high performance and comfort, thanks to an outstanding innovation. The secret behind this stunning device is the amazing design which provides much functionality with effortless power. The device offers an amazing feeling of comfort and control.

Revealing the Lovely Samsung Galaxy S8 Review

Samsung Galaxy S8 Review

Samsung Galaxy S8This is like the Samsung s8+ almost everything about the Galaxy 8+ to the Galaxy S8. It’s built with:

  • Great design
  • Best display ever
  • Beautiful cameras
  • Good processor
  • Storage facilities

Features

  • 8 inches display instead of 6.2
  • The battery is 3,000 MAH instead of 3,500

It comes with some of the problems with S8 + which is the bad location of the fingerprint sensor and the lack lustre debut of Samsung Bixby AL assistance. They are irritating but can be managed because it’s not much of a big deal.

Speed and Stamina

The 8 and 8+ are the first phones to boast of the Qualcomm’s view 10mm snap dragon 835 processor. The results are impressive because the delivery is a faster benchmark, compare to the snap dragon 821 especially for multi-tasking and graphics performance. You won’t notice the difference in many apps because software optimisation is more about how a high-end phone feels compared to the processor performance. The energy efficiency is quite impressive.

Display

A smaller display compared to S8+ which means the lower power requirement means it comes with a smaller battery. The battery will last all day with heavy usage with WIFI and Bluetooth, turn on plus adaptive brightness and all the other sub optimal settings. A bigger phone will last longer mainly because higher capacity will offer more standby to screen time. The phones have excellent battery span because a test was run with the display on and fixed at 200 nits.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Review – More Features

Hardware is more than a great processor speed and long battery span, there are future proofing feature such as:

  • Gigabit wireless
  • Wireless charges faster with support for both Qi and PMA standards
  • USB-C charges faster from zero to 73% in one hour with the included charger
  • Storage standard is 64GB
  • Supports Micro SD for expansion
  • Bluetooth 5 promises longer range, higher bandwidth and faster connections

The IP68 waterproofing is a life saver, although this is not a licence to be careless with the phone. The GS8 speaker’s quality is good, the 32-bit DAC delivers clean and detailed audio from the headphone jack. The two phones come with AKG buds which is one of the best ears bud worth about $100. It produces an excellent built in good quality clear sound. It supports Samsung pay plus the MST technology that is compatible with swipe style card readers. Samsung’s produces lots of technological products that compete with Google and in some cases, it’s difficult to decide which product is better but with the Samsung pay, it beats Google.

The placement of the fingerprint sensor is the major flaw, perhaps there’s a technical reason it was fixed at the side of the camera. This placement wouldn’t have passed the most rudimentary usability testing. The good thing Samsung compensates for this by making the camera and fingerprint reader flush with the phone.

The iris scanner is highly impressive because it is:

  • Fast
  • Reliable
  • Secure

The fingerprint is needed to unlock some apps and unlocking your phone with your eyes is:

  • Fast
  • Reliable
  • Secure

This is good enough to mitigate the disastrous fingerprint scanner placement.

High Water Mark for Display

The Samsung phones have claimed the title of the best display in the last few years and this phone is not different:

  • Peak Brightness
  • Best contrast
  • Colour accuracy
  • Colour gamut
  • Sharpness
  • Leads the pack in every metric
  • Good slopes sides
  • Very thin forehead and chin above and below
  • Virtual home button at the bottom of the screen

Software

TouchWiz is the previous name given to the software design which has been changed to Samsung experience. You won’t be disappointed at all; it still maintains the wholly Samsung interface built on the top of the latest major version of Android which in this case is Android 7.0. The interface fewer offensive compares to the past it looks great after some adjustments.

There are lots of features with the Samsung Galaxy S8 experience such as:

  • The screen stays on while looking because of smart stay
  • Launch the camera with a double tap of the power button
  • The screen shot function can capture long scrolling screen
  • Send your location to emergency contacts with a quick three times press on the power button
  • An optional front and rear camera images and a 5 second audio clip

There are lots of detailed ways that the Samsung interface differs from stock android, but not all changes are impressive. The new Samsung experience is different because it’s far better than touch wiz, there are many options regarding the features.

  • If you’re not happy with the Samsung puts frame around the app’s icon you can turn off the feature.
  • You can choose to show the app drawer button or not
  • You can get rid of the app drawer completely and have everything on the home screen
  • You can schedule and tweak the blue light filter
  • Turn off the LED notification if you want to
  • Change the display layout

Samsung Galaxy S8 Review – also boast of:

  • App store
  • Web browser
  • SMS app
  • Health app
  • Calendar
  • Clock
  • Email
  • Contacts
  • Phone apps

There are more worthwhile apps such as:

  • Secure folder
  • File browser
  • Support service

Bixby

There are still some works to be done in other for Bixby to compete with the likes of Google assistant or Siri. In the meantime, there are still some positive qualities about Bixby such as the vision which promises future potential. It can be launched from the camera app, the gallery or at the top of the Bixby home screen. You’ll have to point your camera at an object and Bixby will try and identify the object. Identifying objects is not 100 percent accurate for the exception of wine and books.

The best thing about the vision is the ability to scan a business card and import the information directly into the contact app. A button can be found below the volume rocker which summons Bixby. Google assistant is also handy to give the necessary support you won’t get from Bixby. I hope with time Bixby will be able to stand by itself.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Review – Top quality Camera

Smartphones will never earn the title of greatness without great cameras; a good camera is a high priority for most users when it comes to deciding on the type of phone to get. Samsung approach regarding the camera in this phone is conservative, it comes with two cameras:

  • A single 12-megapixel rear camera
  • An 8-megapixel front camera

The quality and ease of use are great for both cameras, the rear one is like the excellent shooter in the Galaxy S7 at 12 mega pixels with:

  • Dual pixel auto focus
  • Optical image stabilisation
  • At F/1,7 apertures
  • A new sensor with new optics
  • Improved image processing with algorithms

The front was bumped from 5 to 8 the added auto focus helps to deliver a beautiful selfie. The camera’s software is top notch with new filters and stickers plus a clean interface and its:

  • Super fast
  • Easy auto mode

Revealing the truth about the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Samsung Galaxy s7 edgeA major shift occurred in the mobile phone world with the touch screen invention. Since this invention smart phone has become a device that we all have to depend on for almost everything. After the first few models, what various manufacturers are doing now is to keep improving on the various models release into the market. Let’s take Apple or Samsung, for example, there are different models of iPhone 4, 5 and 6 and this goes for Samsung S4, S5 and S6 series.

This sometimes leads to customers asking the questions if they actually need an upgrade or not. In this article I will be talking about the 7 series, this will help you to decide if you think you’re due an upgrade or not.  My research reveals that new phones are always much better than previous ones. They tend to come with better features; if not producing new phones will be senseless.

In the case of S7 Edge, Samsung did borrow the blueprint from Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. What they have done is to incorporate major improvements to S7 Edge. Three improvements that stand out are:

  • A more sophisticated Camera
  • The battery comes with a longer life span
  • The overall feel of the phone is better than the previous models

This made this phone a fantastic device among smartphones from other manufacturers such Apple’s iPhone 6, LG, G5 and many more.

Design

To be candid this always tends to be one of Samsung’s strongest points.  I recall the release of the Samsung Galaxy S5 some years back, it was the most powerful handset at the time.  The release of S6 and S6 Edge afterwards is much better than the S5. The same thing also goes for the S7 Edge which is out and is outshining the S series.

I discover that many smartphone users prefer the s7 Edge compare to the iPhone 6s plus.

Looking at the S7 Edge, it looks similar or almost the same to its predecessor below are some of the components that make up the design.

  • A metal rim is sandwiched between two slabs of Gorilla Glass 4.
  • There’s a lock switch on one side and a separated volume key on the other side.
  • The back is completely clean.
  • A flush Camera sensor.
  • Heart rate monitor.
  • Samsung Log.
  • The reposition slim tray now sits at the top, which now pops in a micro SD slot too, plus a microphone.
  • At the bottom you will find the headphone jack and another microphone.
  • Micro USB for charging.

There’s a new reversible USB-C connector that has already been used on Nexus 6P One plus 2 LG and G5. There’s a rumour that this connector will be included in the S7 Edge, but this is yet to be the case.

The front almost maintains the same cleanness as the back. It has an elongated home button which is set under the display. It has another Samsung Logo which some users think it’s unnecessary. The fingerprint sensor is located at the front button; this is as perfect as the others in the market right now. On screen button is not available with this model, back and multi-tasking keys lights up when needed. The advantage of getting rid of virtual buttons is it gives you more screen space

Camera

The camera is also redesigned, the S6’s and the S7 Edge’s module sits flat on the back of the phone. This might appear to be an insignificant change, but it makes a huge difference because users can now text with the phone on its back without rocking it from side to side. In a nutshell the S7 series has the same type of camera with enhanced features.

  • The camera has a 12MP sensor.
  • A lower megapixel to the previous models, a deliberate act from Samsung.
  • They are rather focusing on improving the camera hardware.
  • The sensor uses a higher rated 1.4 um pixels more compared to Samsung S6 for noise reduction
  • A wide f/1.7 aperture compared to last year’s f/1.9 which was rated low. The former provides room for more light
  • A super-fast dual pixel phase detection
  • An excellent low lighting performance

Processor

There are two types of Processor in the S7 Edge Processor

  • Samsung Exynos
  • The Qualcomm Snapdragon
  • CPU performance is 30% faster than the S6 series
  • GPU has a 64% uplift
  • A PC like solution performance

The handset contains a heat pipe filled with water so that when SOC heats up the water turns to vapour and cools the SOC via a heat sink.

Software

  • It runs the Android Marshmallow with a new Touch Wiz over the top
  • Enhancement to the display functions that now allows gesture controls and a wider selection of apps.
  • There are more room on the edge for more apps, shortcut and info displayed.

The Difference between Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and S6 Edge

The main difference between these two phones is the size, rather than keeping both phones as the same size and just making changes to the edges, they ‘ve increase the size. This size had increase from 5.1inches to 5.5 inches. A decision about this will be down to the user’s preferences, some prefers the bigger size while other will rather settle for a small and compact size. I do believe that users’ who uses their phones for a lot of entertainments will prefer the bigger size. This is mainly because it offers a wider field of view.

Samsung has managed to install a wider screen into a small phone, comparing this to the iPhone 6S plus, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge:

  • The S7 is narrower
  • Shorter
  • Lighter

This phone can be easily operated with one hand and you can comfortably stretch your thumb from one end to another. Another advantage of a bigger screen is a compliment to the gorgeous sloping curved edges. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is the fourth Samsung phone to use this design trait and is the best.

The S6 Edge is a bit difficult to hold for an extended period, and the S6 Edge plus is simply too big. The Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge seems about the right size especially when it comes to handling. There’s enough space between where the curved screen ends, and the back starts to grip. The newly curved back slips easily into the palm, it feels great while holding and the features are pretty impressive, and the Samsung design team has done a fantastic job.

More Details

Samsung has also included the IP68 rating for water resistance in this model just like the Micro SD slot. The IP68 ratings means you are able to dip the Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge into at least one metre of water for up to 30 minutes without causing any damages to the phone. This means it’s pretty safe in the rain.

This is by no means a vital feature, it’s quite amazing because this added feature is not an impediment to the design. There are no flaps covering the ports, there are no extra space between the display and the glass.

Screen

I touched on this phone having a bigger screen compared to its predecessor, in this section I would like to give you more details. Since the design is great, it’s no doubt that the screen is magnificent. It’s also considered one of the best screen s among the smartphones. Samsung did not go for the 4K display but a Quad-HD (that’s 2560 x 1440).

  • 5 Inch quad-HD panel, dual curved Edges
  • Images, Films and games all look great while watching or playing
  • The pixels are completely invisible to the naked eye
  • The 534PPI (Pixels per inch) density beats the iPhone 6s plus
  • S7 Edge outshines the Apple’s phablet in the display department
  • A super AMOLED tech which is more vibrant than the LCD counterparts
  • Less oversaturation’s as compared to previous models
  • AMOLED displays are much better at showing off blacks than LCD
  • The blacks are inly deep instead of looking slightly grey, this is more noticeable when watching a programme
  • Tilting the phone to an angle also offer a better view

A feature called “Always on Display” mode is good but could do with some improvements. This feature takes advantage of the AMOLED screens that doesn’t need to light up all the time. In other words, the phone can still display time, date and some other information on the lock screen without consuming much power.  Samsung claims that if the “Always on Display” is on, it will only use 1% of battery per hour and this turn out to be the truth during the testing period.

Hardware and Battery

  • The inclusion of a Micro SD card slot, brilliant for multimedia catalogue
  • A removable battery pack was not added. The cell has been bumped up from last year’s 2600mAH to an impressive 3600Mah.
  • Excellent battery life
  • Superpower saving mode
  • Micro USB port although not a Type C version
  • Lots of connectivity capacities

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge – Tips and Tricks

  • Always on Display Adjustment – Pixels not in used are prevented from consuming energy. This is achieved by a feature that allows the screen to light up a smaller number of pixels. Furthermore, the AOD modes will display the date, battery usage, the clock, missed calls and message alert on the lock screen without much power consumption. To activate the feature, go to settings >Display>Always on Display>Toggle on.
  • Adjustment to Colour Saturation – The AMOLED does display sharp and bright colours which might be too much for some users. The screen can be readjusting by going to setting >Display>Screen, then switch from “Adaptive Display” to “Basic”. The other options available are: “AMOLED Cinema” and “AMOLED Photo.”
  • Adjustment to Sound Equalizer – If you fancy making your tunes more interesting, check out your sound equalizer feature. Go to >Settings>Sounds and Vibration>Sound quality and effects, (scroll down towards the bottom)>Equalizer. There are also options such as: UHQ up scaler, Surrounds and Tube amp Pro. You can also adjust the equalizer by rotating the bass, treble, instrument and vocal knobs. You get the best of this in conjunction with the headphones.
  • Feeds Adjustments – The Curved associated with this phone makes it quite unique compare to Apple, LG and HTC. If your phone is faced down, you’re able to see notification with the support of the curved screen. If you swipe your finger across the edge activates and display information such as: Time, Missed Calls, News feeds, Stock quotes and weather reports. You can customise feed according to preferences by going to Settings>Edge screen>Edge feeds. All you must do is select the fees you like from the settings menu.
  • Notification Adjustments – Constant notifications is nothing but a big turn off. The good news you can reduce the numbers of notifications received based on personal references. Go to Settings>Notifications >select on and off for each app. You are also able to adjust the types of notifications by selecting “Advanced” at the top and select priority notifications, popup notifications and hide on lock screen options. If you receive an app notification you can also adjust the settings by pulling it down and tapping on the “info” icon. To see the individual app notifications, Go to: Settings>Applications>App of choice >Notifications.
